It’s been too long coming, and frankly, the first one didn’t do what I wanted it to do, which was get stories by some of my favorite authors. YES, I did get two stories by two authors I love, but the rest were by me. But what it should have been was a TRUE anthology. So, here’s what I want. I want ten of the BEST short stories on phobias that I can find. I am opening up to submissions. I will be paying a flat $50 for the stories I accept, upon publication. I know it’s not much, but I plan on doing a Kickstarter once I have selected my ten authors. If we can generate enough money, then I will pay more than that.
If you want in, please send JUST A SYNOPSIS/FIRST PAGE of 250 words or fewer to scott @ scottroche punto com. Use the subject line House of Phobos. If I accept you for selection into the anthology, here’s what I will expect:
- An original story of 2,500 to 8,000 words (no reprints)
- Help with the Kickstarter so that we can make it a success
- A real commitment to get it done once I wave the green flag
- A story that will make me pee my pants a little
Is this too much to ask for $50 (remember, I hope it will be more)? Maybe for some it will be. I hope I’ll get 20 or 30 entrants and I don’t care if you have zero or a thousand stories published. I will be judging you based on the strength of your pitch. Watch out for cliches.
Submissions should be included in the BODY OF THE EMAIL. NO ATTACHMENTS AND NO COMIC SANS FONTS. SUBMISSIONS WILL CLOSE ON AUGUST 15, 2025!!
