Truth Is No Stranger To Fiction

This is a story from my anthology Caveat Veritatem.

They say there’s some truth at the core of every story, even the most absurd ones. That comes back to haunt a publisher of such tales.

It’s voiced by Keith Latch.

Dry Spell

Here’s another in the vein of EC comics. This is also King-esque in that my protagonist is a writer dealing with creative vapor lock and the extent he will go to overcome that (and its odd and terrifying consequences).

Zane Royce is having some difficulties creating his next masterpiece. He happens into The Grim Reader and asks if there are any books that could help spark his muse. Old Will is happy to help, but the book he offers does more than Zane could dream of and may end in a nightmare.

It’s available on Smashwords as part of the Tales From The Grim Reader.

It’s voiced by Paul Ellis.

Witchy Women

I LOVE EC Comics and this story reflects that love (I hope).

What happens when a trio of young women try to bite off more than they can chew in The Grim Reader, an odd little book shop right next door to the Twilight Zone and in spitting distance of The Outer Limits.

It’s available on Smashwords as part of the Tales From The Grim Reader.

It’s voiced by Jake Bible author of Dead Mech, The Americans, and a host of other squirm inducing stories.

The Music Box

This is a story I wrote for an anthology that I wanted to write with a friend of mine years ago. It never happened, but I got some good stories out of it! You may want to keep some kleenex handy.

In the third story an art student has an encounter with a spirit who can’t seem to move on. In an effort to help her, he builds “The Music Box”. Will the ethereal music free the little girl?

It’s available on Amazon and Smashwords as part of the Far and Away anthology.

It’s voiced by Doug Rapson of the Geekacres Podcast.

Compass Rose

This is a story from my Children of Legend series.

Standing up against bullies was nothing new to Rose. As a transgendered teen, she’d stood up to enough of it in her own life. This time though it had dangerous, almost deadly consequences. Given the power to level the playing field, she must decide on the best direction to go.

It’s available on Amazon and Smashwords.

Bitter Release

This is a story from my anthology Far And Away.

“Bitter Release” is set in the trench wars of World War One. A young soldier finds himself the sole survivor of a German attack and buried under tons of mud and stone. His only way out seems to be a case of spirits, but there’s more to the mix of absinthe and brandy helping him to escape.

It’s voiced by James Keeling of Synaptic Jam Productions and Veronica Giguere.

Here, There Be Dragons

Here’s another story from my Children of Legend series, the second prequel story.

Maria Perez runs afoul of a local street gang and finds an unlikely ally. She also receives an alarming and transformative gift to face just such problems in the future.

It’s voiced by Jen Avila of The Jen And Dave Show podcast. She and her husband Dave have appeared in my podcasts before and are truly some of the best people I’ve never met.

X Marks The Spot

This story is a LOT lighter in tone. It’s part of my Children of Legend series, the first of the prequel stories in fact.

A young boy goes digging for treasure and finds more than he bargained for.

John Wilkerson voiced this. You can find him at The Wired Homeschool and The Jesus Geek

This story is available at Smashwords and Amazon.

Let Go

This is another dark one. It was suggested by a good friend of mine and was a lot of fun to write.

Faced with the atrocities he’s committed to keep his wife and son safe and provided for, Chris is forced into a bitter decision. He must find a way to let go of his family and move on. But in a world gone to hell, is there any other choice?

I voiced this one myself.

Power In The Blood

This is one of my darker stories. It’s actually my first fiction sale. It appeared in Hub Fiction. This story can be found as part of the Though A Glass, Darkly anthology.

Reggie is tired of getting beaten down everywhere he turns. He finds a new strength, but at what cost?

I voiced this one myself. Fair warning, it’s fairly explicit.

The Good Doctor

I love the WEIRD WILD WEST and so I wrote this story. It was inspired by a prompt from Great Hites a while back and I plan on writing more adventures of the good doctor. This story can only be found as part of the Though A Glass, Darkly anthology.

Selling potions and trinkets to protect people from the all to real supernatural perils that surround them provided the Doctor with a good living, but it may lead to his death.

This is voiced by my partner in crime David Sobkowiak (who’s as podcast crazy as I am). He is a writer, husband, father, voice actor and singer in a band with no name. When he is not spending time with his family, he is busy focusing on the concept of creativity. David is a founding member of the Audio Drama Group at BrokenSea Audio Productions (www.brokensea.com), Co-creative at the collaborative concept site Scrivener’s Circle (www.scrivenerscircle.com), co-runs the Seekrit Projekt podcast (http://www.theseekritprojekt.com/), an audio producer and computer aficionado. Time is a fluid concept for David, and he one day hopes to determine a means of fitting more into a day. You can find more information on him and his various projects at www.davidsobkowiak.com.

The Good Samaritan

Here’s a story that offers a slightly different take on a favorite critter of mine, and that’s all I’ll say. This story can only be found as part of the Though A Glass, Darkly anthology. It’s a little short, but it packs a LOT of punch.

Trudi and her friend stop on the road to help a stranded motorist and confront the walking dead.

This is voiced by Beq Vyper who’s done voice work for Metamor City and Nobilis Erotica.

It, along with other stories, is also available direct from my website.

Fetch – Part Two

This is part two of my story inspired by Every Photo Tells.

Father Ian promised his parishioner to investigate a mysterious sighting at the nearby cemetery. When he does and finds nothing out of the ordinary, he arrives at the man’s house only to find him dead. Evil is roaming the Irish countryside and has its sights set on the good Father.

This is voiced by Mick Bordet and Katharina Maimer of the aforementioned podcast. It’s available on its own or as part of the Though A Glass, Darkly anthology.
